Princeton senior running back Jaydon Brooks laid his claim to being the best runningback in Johnston County in Friday night's 42-20 win over Smithfield-Selma.
Brooks made the comment after a 31-yard touchdown run. It was his second of the night. Brooks finished with 403 yards (yes, not a typo) and three touchdowns on 25 carries. Brooks led the WJG Sports area last year in rushing and has close to 3500 yards rushing and 39 rushing TDs in his three-year varsity career.
The Spartans may have lost but showed a lot of heart. Senior runningback Clevonte Watson put up over 130 yards of total offense and scored one receiving touchdown. E.E. Smith transfer Dashawn Mccullough was impressive in his first game for the Spartans as he threw for 203 yards and a touchdown.
The Bulldogs will be back in action against East Duplin on August 27th. Smithfield-Selma will travel to Nash Central on the same night.
