Goldsboro got four turnovers to ground Douglas Byrd.
The Cougars (1-1) got big performances from many players to secure the win. After leading 16-14 at half, Goldsboro began to pour it on with a 28-6 run to win 44-20. Senior Justin Taylor, who had a receiving touchdown in the second half, said the Cougars were determined to bounce back after a bad week last week against Clinton. The Cougars will take on in-county rival Southern Wayne on September 3.
The Eagles (0-2) will travel to Pine Forest on September 3 looking for their first win of the year.
