Rosewood beats Aycock for the first time in over 20 years on a last second stand

C.B. Aycock’s early lead did not last as Rosewood’s persistence came out on top in the Little River Rivalry.
The Eagles won 27-26 and finished the game with a goal line stand on the two-point conversion. The win was the first time Rosewood won the rivalry matchup since 1999. David Lamme was the conductor with three rushing touchdowns.
Aycock started the season opening contest up with a 20-6 lead after forcing some early turnovers. David Reid and Daniel Fredrick led the team with three rushing touchdowns combined.
Rosewood behind Lamme, Terquavious Butler and a maturing defense to take a 21-20 lead. Lamme scored one of his touchdowns with 3 minutes left to give Rosewood a 27-20 lead.
Ethan Brock managed to throw a 28-yard TD pass to DJ Prince in the final seconds to make the score 27-26. But the Rosewood defense stood up Reid on the two-point try to secure the win.
Rosewood will be looking to start a winning streak against North Johnston on August 27. Aycock will be looking for the first win of the season against Eastern Wayne on the 27th as well.
