West Johnston takes 13-0 lead in season opener versus Jordan, but can’t hold on as Jordan won 27-24.
The Falcons scored 21 unanswered after the Wildcats took a 16-6 lead. To start the fourth quarter, West Johnston got a touchdown on a wild snap recovery to make it 27-24. After a fourth down stop on the West Johnston 22-yard-line, the Wildcats took over down three with 2 minutes left. West Johnston turned the ball over on downs on a controversial fourth down tackle on quarterback Donte Harper with less than a minute left.
The tackle was controversial because there was helmet to helmet contact that went uncalled. West Johnston head coach Jermaine Harper was ejected for arguing the hit on his QB and son. The Falcons took a kneel to finish off the win.
The Wildcats are back in action on August 27th against Western Harnett. Jordan will play the same night against Holly Springs.
